Volunteer with us

We have plenty of opportunity for you to get involved here at Hope Community Foundation.  Our volunteering covers a wide range of expressions including:

  • Conventional volunteering for those who share our passion for people and for Sheffield and want to give something back to support others.
  • Short term work placements for those looking for work experience to develop their skills and confidence.
  • University placement opportunities for those looking to undertake community work as part of their studies.
  • Work Placements for those looking to develop their readiness for work. These combine with employability training to give you the skills and the confidence to get back into work or into work for the first time.

Below are some of the opportunities we currently have available, but we’d welcome a conversation with you to see where you might best fit.

Opportunities to get involved

Take a look at the opportunities below.  Some are open to all whereas others require an application process because of the nature of what is involved, as often we are working with vulnerable people and safeguarding is a high priority for us.

COMMUNITY GROCERY VOLUNTEER

At the heart of our work during the week is our Community Grocery.  We have over 2000 members who can access affordable food and provisions through the community grocery.  As a volunteer you will help our customers find what they need, be a friendly face for those visiting us and help to ensure the grocery itself is always kept well stocked and presented.  The Grocery is open Monday to Friday.

Our Foundation cafe is a donation based cafe serving our visitors throughout the week.  We offer food and refreshments and a warm welcome, aiming to provide a place where people can meet and develop genuine connections without having to pay commercial prices for food and drink.  As a volunteer you’ll be behind the counter for the most of the time but will also get the opportunity to chat with our visitors and make them feel valued and welcome.
